"A favorite work of the artist portrays a felt oneness between child and cat while at the same time conveys a tension expressed by the stiffness of the cat's form in it desire for escape surrounded by the soft curves of the child's body filled with pleasure at her peaceful capture. The starkness of the line forces this image from the commonplace and into a realm of the purest graphic representation. Frank's work leaves the viewer with an evocation of a rounded Picasso or a smooth Kollewitz.
